In addition to local backups, you can also choose to store encrypted backups online. There is no extra cost for this service!

If using Medlin Payroll Classic or MICR Edition, or only using Medlin Accounting and/or Medlin Accounts Receivable

•Up to three backups containing the contents of one data folder can be stored online.

•The maximum size of your online backup is 1MB.

•This is more than enough space for very large data folders.

If using Medlin Payroll Professional Edition (with or without Medlin Accounting and/or Medlin Accounts Receivable)

•Up to ten backups can be stored online.

•An encrypted online backup consists of one file containing all data found in your 'last used list'.

•One encrypted online backup may contain the data from hundreds of data folders.

•This is an IMPORTANT difference from the local backups.

•The maximum space your backups can use is 40MB.

•This is more than enough for hundreds of data folders!

SECURITY INFORMATION

•Your data is stored on a secure server, in a 'container' only accessible when using a version of Medlin Software licensed to your customer ID.

•The connection to the storage service is always secure, using TLS and AES-256 bit encryption.

•The data is compressed and encrypted before upload.

•Encryption is a 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm.

•This function uses the Microsoft CryptoAPI and the RSA AES cryptographic provider.

•This provider may not be available in some languages, countries or regions.

•The availability of this provider may also be constrained by cryptography export restrictions imposed by the United States or other countries.

•A calculated password is used to generate a SHA-256 hash value which is used as part of the encryption process.

NOTES

•Medlin Software can see the number and size of your backups.

•If you would like to delete your online backups, use the 'Manage Online Backups' option three times in a row, without closing the software.

•You should be making backups at least once a month, which would mean none of your backups are ever over six months old.

•Online backups more than six months old may automatically be removed.

•If you are no longer a customer of ours (refund, not using the current version, etc.), your backups may be removed at any time.
