Password

As of July 24, 2023, the ability to set a password within Medlin has been removed. Those who have an existing password can use their current password for the remainder of 2023.

With the ability to easily and securely set computer level passwords within Windows itself, the modest security of a program specific password has been rendered moot.

There is no 'backdoor', secret password, list of passwords, or any other means for Medlin to access your data if you forget your password.

There is no means for Medlin to reset or clear your password.

Should you lose your password, the only means of recovery is to uninstall the software, delete the data, and start over.

The 'Password' button on the Setup tab allows you to enter and change a password.

Once a password has been entered, it will be required to start the program.

To remove password protection, enter NONE as the new password.

Notes

Password protection will make it harder for an unauthorized person to get into the program. This level of protection will deter casual browsing, but with the proper skills and plenty of time, any password scheme can be broken.

A more secure method is to use the operating system login to keep unwanted folks from accessing your computer entirely. For example, if you have employees who you cannot trust with your computer, setup an operating system login to keep them out.
