Medlin Software was founded by Jerry Medlin, an engineer turned programmer who began writing software to solve real world business problems after discovering that existing solutions were overly complicated. His vision shaped the company’s defining philosophy: simplicity is the key. Today, Medlin Software is the longest operating shareware (“try before you buy”) software company, having successfully navigated decades of technology changes while remaining true to its original mission.
We have been a family-run business since Jerry Medlin founded Medlin Software in 1984. His commitment to usability and customer-first design laid the foundation for Medlin Software’s success. An inaugural inductee into the Shareware Hall of Fame, Jerry passed away in 2022, but his principles continue to guide everything we do. Kim Medlin, our current CEO, is also a Founder. Our site manager and SEO guru is Jerry’s son, Carter Medlin, and our Managing Director and Chief Programmer, Dennis Pearson, has been with the company since 1993 and most definitely considered a member of the family.
