Director, Shareholder, and Chief Programmer: Dennis Pearson

Before joining Medlin Software in 1993, Dennis worked in automotive repair, construction, and managing a bakery.  He remembers seeing his first main frame computer in the mid 1960's.  In the 1970's, he took accounting and began working with computer applications.  By the mid 1980's Dennis owned his own computer and was teaching himself how to program. By early 1993, Medlin Software had grown to the point where the business needed someone to handle telephone support for its programs.  Dennis was ready for a new career and saw an advertisement for a telephone support person for a local computer software company in the local newspaper.  He remembered the name 'Medlin' from an earlier feature article about Jerry selling 'Shareware', and gave Jerry a call.  A perfect match was made.  Starting out as part time telephone support person, Dennis caught the programming bug and taught himself new programming languages, becoming an invaluable collaborator with Jerry, and eventually Chief Programmer (and now Director and Shareholder).

Medlin Software, Inc. was born January of 2019.  No changes in management, just formalizing the structure for the future!  Jerry retired from the day to day operations many years ago.  Dennis has formally become Director of the company, continuing to do what he has been doing for many years, and plans to continue for many years to come.

Founder: Jerry Medlin

When Jerry discovered his degree in Industrial Engineering meant following people around with a stop watch, he decided to make a career change.  He started a bookkeeping business in 1974, and in 1978 bought his first computer. Jerry began writing programs to fill his own need for software, after discovering available software was cumbersome and complicated.  Medlin Software was born in 1984 as a way to distribute Jerry's software to other businesses.  Jerry is an inaugural inductee to the Shareware Hall of Fame.

Ø2013 - Our 30th year.  Despite sporadic requests, we stop offering 3.5 inch floppy disks when our last computer with a 3.5 inch drive is replaced.

Ø1997 - Jerry was inducted as part of the inaugural class of the Shareware Hall of Fame

Ø1994 - First version of Medlin for Windows

Ø1993 - Dennis was hired.

Ø1992 - Medlin wins the first Shareware Industry Award for Business and Finance software.

Ø1986 - The year our two longest continuous customers began using Medlin Software, a CPA office in Mississippi, and a mobile home contractor in California.

Ø1984 - Medlin Accounting Shareware was born.  First paid customer, Nov 14, 1984, PC-GL for DOS, a check for $35.
