Printer Selection

Previous Top Next

The printer selection and options screen is shown after clicking the Print button.

The available options depend on the item(s) being printed, and the capabilities of your printer, as reported by the printer's software (printer driver).

Printer Name

Select the desired printer.

The list is obtained from all printers currently available, through Windows, to your computer.

The list may include actual printers, or other alternate 'printers' such as PDF creation software.

If you have any networked printers, the list may be slow to fill as Windows tries to communicate with the printer.

If you have any printers not currently powered on, the list may be slow reacting as Windows tries to communicate with the printer.

Paper Source

All paper sources/trays reported by the printer's software.

Unless you have a special need, selecting 'Default' is recommended.

Font Name

We recommended font 'Arial' or 'Times New Roman'.

When printing tax forms, your selection may be ignored, depending on the requirements of the form.

Font Style

Regular is the normal selection.

When printing tax forms, your selection may be ignored, depending on the requirements of the form.

Copies

Select the desired number.

All we can do is 'request' your printer software comply.

If your printer software/hardware does not support multiple copies, or your printer software has manually been set to a different number of copies, your results may vary.

Duplex (2 Sided)

Prints on both sides of the page, if supported by your printer's software/hardware.

When printing tax forms, your selection may be ignored, either because it is not allowed for the particular form, or because there may be a penalty if you submit a double sided form which is not legible by the tax agency's scanning process.

Collate

If printing more than one copy, and if supported by your printer's software/hardware, will print each page in order, instead of all copies of page 1, then all copies of page 2, etc.

Print as Separate Documents

If you would like to make different printer selections for each item printed, select this box.

The other usage for this option is when printing in Duplex.

Printing in Duplex, as separate documents, keeps each report on separate pages, so the last page of one report and the first page of the next report do not end up on the same sheet of paper.

Half Lines of Additional Top Margin

Uses this selection to move the printing down (or up) in half line increments.

This is typically only used for jet type printers, or if you are using check forms from an alternate source.

A half line is 1/12 of an inch.

Checks

The allowable range is from -2 to 9.

Reports

The allowable range is from 0 to 9.
