What is MICR Check Printing? MICR is an acronym for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. MICR can also refer to the special font used to print the numbers and symbols at the bottom of a check. The "MICR Line" at the bottom of a check allows your bank information to be read by machine.

Why would I want to print MICR checks? Blank check stock is significantly cheaper than preprinted check forms. If you change banks, move, or for any other reason need to change the information on your checks, you do not have to order new forms.

Will my self printed MICR checks be accepted when cashed/deposited? If you have a good quality laser printer, the checks will probably be acceptable using your normal ink/toner. While many banks and check cashing locations use optical scanners, there are still a few using magnetic scanners. The likely problem will not necessarily be a bank, but will come up when an employee tries to cash their check at a store or check cashing facility and their scanner does not read a non-laser printed check.

Can I print my company logo on the check? Yes, any bitmap (.bmp) graphic can be printed on the check.
