Cloud/Desktop/Laptop Payroll Software by Medlin

Cloud/Desktop/Laptop Payroll Software by Medlin - Timed License

Starting with orders processed Sep 1, 2022, we have changed to a timed (annual, once a year based on the date of your order(s)) license for Medlin Payroll Software.

If you renew Medlin Payroll BEFORE your license expires - Your new license will include any remaining days on your existing license.

As before, each license is for use on a single computer. You can transfer your license to a replacement computer as needed. When a license is expired, you can use the current version to access any recent data you may have saved. There will be some limitations, such as not entering new paychecks.

Why the change?
Now that all download, there is no reason for us to restrict usage by 'version year'. All with a current - not past their expiration date - license can use the current software, period.
Your license is not for a particular software year, it is for the current software, no matter the revision, through your expiration date.

Other Changes:
You will need to be connected to the internet to check for updates, and to allow the software to verify your license. This is not a constant requirement, but once a month is suggested. Most of our customers are always connected, so this should not be an issue. The reality is most should check for updated every payroll run, as the tax agencies no longer limit their changes to the beginning of the year.

For the Professional Edition, a non-expired license allows access to tax calculations and forms through the license expiration year, and the four prior years. This includes full add, edit, and delete of paychecks dated from the expiration date, to Jan 1 of four years prior to the expiration year..

For the Classic Edition, a non-expired license allows access to tax calculations and forms or the current year and the four prior years. Adding and editing paychecks is limited to the license's expiration date, back to Jan 1 of the year prior to the expiration year.

NOTES
The software itself still has a revision year and revision number, formatted as the revision year, a dot, then the revision number.
The revision year is a reference to the most current tax calculations available in the software.
The revision year is incremented when the new tax calculations are available.
